I am currently undertaking a fine art painting course at WWSOTA. My work is inspired by one’s ability, or rather inability to remember. I am intrigued by the emotions experienced when one cannot remember something specific. For some of us, it is a familiar occurrence to forget or confuse, to omit relevant or add irrelevant information. I imagine the brain working over time bombarding the mind with images which one has to decipher between causing one to feel overwhelmed, frustrated and anxious.

My imagery is taken from three sources; photographs from my past, my own memories and objects around me. Through layering, over painting and veiling this imagery I am trying to distort and fragment the over all image giving a sense of a lack of information and confusion.

I am exploring various colour palettes with acrylics and experimenting with layering, glazes and washes. I am influenced by the work of George Baselitz, Kitaj and Lee Krasner.
